Phyllis is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology.   After 4 years in the Education field, she began honing her sales skills starting in radio sales. Over the years she sold advertising for 3 radio stations in 3 markets, Oakes ND, St Cloud MN, and a Fargo-Detroit Lakes station. Phyllis also sold advertising for Gronseth Publishers of St. Cloud and Northland phone directories of Brainerd. Both of these positions had her travelling extensively east of the Mississippi. She also has had experience selling medical supplies, long distance phone service and phone equipment before finding her calling in the insurance industry.   Phyllis worked for a State Farm agent for 8½ years before joining the Dawson Insurance team in 2005 specializing in personal lines property and casualty.

Phyllis holds the CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) designation, and has completed the flood course, and participated in numerous insurance programs. She is a active member of FMAAIP (FM Area Association of Insurance Professionals), a local chapter of NAIW (National Alliance of Insurance Women) and holds the position of treasurer. Through this organization, she has had the opportunity to take several short courses to enhance her expertise.  

Phyllis is also active in her local church, United Way panel, book club, pinochle club, and sponsors and corresponds with a young girl in Burkina Faso thru Compassion International. In the past, Phyllis has been involved in the Oakes, Brainerd  and Fargo Chamber of Commerce’s, organizing an 18th Century Renaissance Festival, Air and Boat shows, and an old time rock concert in Fargo.
